Rachel is Digital Engagement Officer at South West Museum Development, an Arts Council England Sector Support Organisation, providing museums in the South West with the tools to thrive. After joining the team in 2019 Rachel has helped shape the organisation’s new website and developed a digital engagement strategy for the team to streamline communications and support to over 300 museums and heritage organisations in the region. The programme delivers bespoke training, Accreditation support, one to one guidance and helps to bridge national initiatives with local needs.
Rachel has over 12 years’ experience in the cultural sector in educational, non-profit and commercial organisations, nationally and internationally. Starting out in libraries and archives; through traineeships at Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York and Peggy Guggenheim Museum in Venice. Following this Rachel worked at the Royal College of Art and subsequently as Archivist for Damien Hirst. Since relocating to Bristol in 2015 a shift was made into more strategic Project Management in the cultural sector. Most notably for the public art producers Situations and Bristol & Bath Cultural Destinations, a consortium of over 30 cultural organisations, delivering projects including Digital Optimisation – skills sessions with practical implementation. Rachel brings with her a passion for collaboration, effective delivery and championing progressive culture change.
