Why this conference now?

If you work for an arts or heritage organisation, how relevant is your work to people’s lives in an increasingly online world, right now and in the future?

Our dramatically changing society is increasingly influenced by digital culture and technologies. This shift is far more profound than people’s compulsive mobile usage – it’s about changes to our identity, our wellbeing, the information we consume, the democracy we participate in and the networks and communities we connect with.

In a world evolving so quickly, how do museums and galleries remain relevant?

What’s the problem in our organisations?

Many arts and heritage organisations are already undertaking significant digital transformational work in their operations and services.

At the same time important change work is also happening to enable these organisations to better respond to new social problems.

Yet bizarrely, these two strands of transformational work are taking place entirely separately!

Digital projects and social change projects often fall within separate silos, and are not connected for audiences, with many potential opportunities that aren’t being exploited. The Let’s Get Real conference wants to change that.

The conference builds on thinking and practice from the recent Let’s Get Real 6 collaborative action research project and report. Join us in London on 30 January, and you’ll learn from a range of inspiring speakers how to better connect up your organisation’s digital practice with social purpose.

This represents more than just one isolated opportunity. It’s far more important than that. It’s about ways to keep your work relevant, both strategically and practically, to tomorrow’s audiences.

Who is the Let’s Get Real conference for – and how will it help you?

This conference is for everyone interested in exploring different ways cultural organisations can respond to changing times in our society and our local communities. We believe that the conference will help people in specific roles in the following ways:

Are you a CEO, Director, Trustee or any other leader charged with strategically navigating your arts or heritage organisation? Come along and learn from inspiring projects inside the cultural sector and beyond: you’ll discover how to articulate the strategic and social value of your existing work, develop new partnerships and make a deeper impact.

Are you in a learning or community-facing role? Discover new, digitally-influenced ways to gather and engage communities around important issues, and take part in a day that recognises the importance of your experience and expertise in shaping how organisations respond to change.

Do you work in a digital role? If you have significant responsibility for digital work, you’ll discover some of the latest digital best practice and thinking, inspiring you with ways to break out of the silo, better able to connect and explain what you do in relation to your organisation’s  core purpose.

Do you work in programming, events or a curatorial role? Join us to discover practical approaches and inspiring ideas to help you creatively engage your audiences with current social issues.
